For those of you who like the Queen and love facts, here is the perfect combination of the two, in anticipation of her upcoming birthday. And for those of you who don’t like the Queen and don’t like facts (you know who you are), then you’re probably reading the wrong article, and unintentionally clicked on this link.
Did you know that Queen Elizabeth II:
- Has two birthdays
- Is patron to over 600 charities
- Sent her first email from an army base in 1976
- Has visited 116 countries on state visits
- Owns all 5300 breeding pairs of mute swans in the UK
- Is the 40th Monarch since William
Additionally, over the last year, despite her advancing age she continues to plough on with her grueling schedule, having attended more than 350 commitments.
With Queen Elizabeth reaching another landmark birthday this Thursday, turning 90 years old, despite her age she still manages to carry out a demanding agenda of royal affairs, with hundreds of engagements scheduled in her calendar throughout the year.
Many people view the latter years of life as those that are spent pursuing dreams or spending some much-deserved time focusing on relaxing pursuits. The Queen, however, seems to be doing the opposite.
It is a rare trait indeed, but incidentally one that is at the very core of so many historical leading personalities. When someone has a mission and a purpose they are striving to achieve, taking things easy doesn’t come into the equation.
It seems that it is not only the Queen who has this ethos towards life. Judaism teaches that life is a pursuit of achievement, a quest for success and growth, and a search for constant accomplishment. There is no taking it easy, slowing down and retiring from life. In this area, we make no compromises or concessions.
Maybe one of the most important lessons we can learn from our Monarch on her 90th birthday is that we all have things to accomplish at every stage of our lives. Age is merely a number that should not hinder our efforts to achieve greatness.
We wish Queen Elizabeth a very happy birthday with many more healthy years to reign and continue showing us through her wonderful example, just how much we can all do.
